What is ADHD?
Consistent inattention and/or excessive impulsivity that impairs everyday functioning in at least two contexts, such as at school and at home, characterizes attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), a neurological illness. It affects people of all ages, both sexes, and from all walks of life. ADD/ADHD is a biological disorder that is, most likely, inherited. Researchers suspect that a gene involved in the creation of dopamine, a chemical that controls the brain’s ability to maintain regular and consistent attention, may be traced back to attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD or ADD). That is to say, it is not the result of poor upbringing, an unhealthy diet, or excessive screen time.
